MetroFresh Menu for Thursday July 29, 2010

Today I have to give a shout
out to Kathi and her daughter Sophie, our very good friends from Alex City,
Alabama. They came into the big city for
a couple of appointments and met Richie right here at MetroFresh for dinner
last night. Sophie is Richie's
goddaughter. She is now all of 16,
driving, looking beautiful and a long way from the little girl I first met 13
years ago when we played "Sophie Ball" throwing her back and forth in the
lake. Kathi and Richie have been friends
since the Truman administration. That's
not actually true, but they have been friends since the days of Limelight at
Disco Kroger. When she and Richie get
together - along with Carol, Betsy, Randi, and several others, all I hear about
is the crazy days at Limelight and how there's NOTHING like that anymore. I think we're all fortunate there's NOTHING
like that anymore, since we're old now, and going to the Limelight at our age
would constitute a fauz pas of epic proportions, not to mention detrimental for
our health. Anyway, Kathi gets her
Anderpino news via the daily email, and she lobbied hard last night for an
appropriate shout out. It was great to
see them, and feed them some delicious, healthy MetroFresh food before the headed
back the Bamalama!
We're catering another party
tonight. We have the shingle out on the
door apparently since in the next few weeks we have several large parties
offsite. This means lots of scurrying in
the kitchen today getting everything ready. If you see a flash when you're ordering your soup, that'll be me.
We have lots of great food today for lunch and
dinner. I made a delicious cold squash
soup that's really light and healthy. It
does have some dairy, but it's just lo-fat yogurt and a little feta. For those of you who don't know, Rockstar and
I are from Western NY and tonight, he is featuring a famous WNY favorite - Beef
on Weck! This our version of a French
dip and it is served with a creamy horseradish on a Pretzel Bun - FYI the proper bun would be a kummelweck
also called 'weck. WE had Eli bake up
Pretzel buns instead. Just as good and
whole lot less salt! Come and see us.
